About Honey
Honey is a 6-year-old Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler mix with a gentle and devoted spirit. She comes from a home in Oklahoma and, although she has experienced some big changes lately, she hasn’t lost her shine. Honey is mostly deaf, but she makes up for it with her intelligence and has an impressive grasp of American Sign Language commands—including not just basics like "sit" and "stay" but also specific signals for words like "bed," "ball," and even other animals. She navigates the world with sharp focus and becomes especially attached to her people. She thrives on human companionship and prefers to be the only dog in the house, as sharing attention doesn’t suit her. She is not a match for homes with cats. When meeting new people, Honey warms up more quickly to women, but she’s open and affectionate with everyone given time and patience. Because of her loving nature, being left alone causes her some anxiety—she expresses this with a high-pitched whine—so she’ll do best in a home where someone is home most of the time to keep her company. Honey is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. If you’re searching for a loyal companion ready to learn and bond in unique ways, Honey is eager to start her next chapter with you.
