Saganaki
AvailableSaganaki is a young mixed breed, a blend of German Shepherd Dog and Great Pyrenees, currently about 7 months old. She is a spayed female, expected to be large in size. Saganaki is living in New Baltimore, MI, and thanks to her social progress, she’s now comfortable with both dogs and cats. She gets along with children as well and is looking for someone ready to give her a fresh start.
About Saganaki
Saganaki had a rough start, growing up outside and fighting hunger before rescue. Her mom seems to have been a white German Shepherd and her dad appeared to be a Great Pyrenees, but there may be more breeds in the mix. Because she was malnourished when she was young, she likely won’t reach her expected size but may still weigh up to 75 pounds, or possibly a bit more. When first rescued, Saganaki was fearful and nearly feral, but she’s made remarkable progress thanks to her foster family. She was actually the first in her group to show curiosity and seek human attention, and she’s now learning how to live as a household dog. Saganaki adores other dogs and will thrive in a home with a confident canine companion who can help her continue coming out of her shell. She also gets along well with cats and children. Meeting new people can still be intimidating at first, but she’s quick to warm up. She’s playful outdoors, is exploring toys for the first time, and enjoys carrying around plushies or chewing tough toys. House training is still a work in progress; expect to spend some time reinforcing routines when she settles into your home. Given her Pyrenees heritage, Saganaki’s coat will need daily brushing and regular visits to a professional groomer. While she has livestock guardian breeds in her background, she’s never had exposure or training for working with livestock and should be considered a pet and companion. Anyone considering adopting Saganaki should be prepared to continue training, provide steady socialization, and be proactive about her grooming needs. Saganaki is in New Baltimore, MI and ready to make a new start with her person. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
