Miss Gretel is pleased to make your acquaintance! This black beauty has been vetted, spayed, microchipped, and has received a clean bill of health from our vet. All that's left to do is find her the perfect permanent address! . Please read on for her story, and for instructions on how to request an application for her! Here is what we know about GRETEL: - Gretel is estimated to be around 9 months old, and weighs just shy of 5lbs. She will not get much bigger, and is a very petite lady! - Gretel is a purebred chihuahua, and is absolutely adorable. - Gretel and her playmate Hansel were abandoned outside of our rescue in a very nice carrier with new collars and a new bed. While we don't know much about their lives prior to now, we can tell they were very well cared for and loved. We suspect their prior family happened upon changed circumstances or hard times and wanted to make sure that they found wonderful new homes. Since then, both have been thriving in rescue and receiving lots of TLC. They are ready to be adopted together or separately to forever families now. - Gretel is still young and therefore isn't completely trained yet, but she does use puppy pads without issue and is working on learning the ropes of housebreaking, leash walking, and crate training. She is a mellow girl who is eager to please, so with the right structure and routine she should catch on so quickly. - Gretel is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and has received a clean bill of health. - Gretel shares a foster home with other dogs and she gets along great with them. She is bonded to her playmate Hansel and it would be great to adopt them together, but we think she would also do just fine as the only dog, or with another doggy playmate in her new household. - Gretel hasn't been directly exposed to cats, but we think with a proper introduction she would be just fine with them. Most cats will be larger than she is! - Gretel is tiny, and small in stature as well. As a result, we think she would do best with older children 8+ who could safely manage her and are old enough to understand doggy boundaries. She loves to be held and is easy to carry around! - Because Gretel is so tiny, she is easy prey for lots of wildlife out there. She definitely can't be left unattended while outside, but would love to have some supervised playtime in a nice fenced in yard! - We would love to see Gretel go to a home with small dog and/or breed experience, but welcome all applicants.
