Hi… I’m Mello. I’m a little guy 1.5 years old Miniature Pinscher mix … about 10 pounds… but my heart? It’s big. I will be neutered soon, vaccinated, microchipped, and I am house-trained. I made the long journey from North California to my foster home in Ridgefield, WA… still hoping that my real family is out there. I can travel to Vancouver, BC if there is a potential adopter for me. Here is my story: I used to live in the San Francisco area with someone who cared about me… but life was busy for her. Long days at a hair salon meant I spent a lot of time in my crate… waiting. Waiting for the door to open. Waiting for someone to come home. Waiting for a moment to feel part of a life again. I didn’t understand why the days felt so long… but I never stopped hoping. One day, everything changed. She made a hard decision— not because she didn’t love me… but because she knew I deserved more. And someone stepped in to help. That’s how I found my way to Ridgefield, Washington… to my foster home… to a new beginning. At first, I wasn’t sure what to do with all the freedom. No long hours alone. No waiting behind a crate door. Just space… kind voices… and people who wanted me close. And slowly… I came to life. I LOVE other dogs, I run, play, and have so much fun with them. I’m great with people too… all kinds of people… even kids! I just want to be part of everything. I still use my crate sometimes— but now it’s a safe, cozy place… not a place I feel stuck. And yes… I should probably tell you something important… I LOVE food. 😄 Meals? Treats? Snacks? I’m always ready. And I should tell you one more thing about me… I have a very special look. 😄 One of my ears likes to stand up tall and proud… while the other one just… does its own thing and flops down. I guess you could say I’m a little bit serious… and a little bit silly at the same time. People always smile when they see me— and honestly, I think my ears have something to do with that. But I don’t mind… because if my funny little ears can make you happy, then I’m doing my job perfectly. I’m still young—only about a year and a half old. I have energy to play, love to give, and a heart that just wants to stay close to my people. I don’t think about the past in a sad way anymore. It just helped me understand what I really need… Time. Love. A family. Now I dream about a home where I don’t have to wait anymore. A place where I can play with friends, be part of your daily life, and curl up at the end of the day knowing… I belong.
