Cuyo is three years old and fills out his large frame with a gentle, affectionate spirit. He acts like an oversized baby—quiet in the yard, where he prefers slow strolls, a bit of sniffing, and then sticks close to his handler rather than roaming. Cuyo lives for people time, soaking up attention, sunshine, and any snacks you’d share. If your idea of a perfect evening is lounging with a devoted companion on a giant couch, Cuyo is ready to claim his spot by your side. He’s comfortable around children and recently handled a group of kids at a shelter event with ease. Cuyo hasn’t had much positive exposure to other dogs in his history and has developed some reactivity since arriving at the shelter, so he needs adopters who can confidently manage him on walks and continue working gently on his leash manners. He’s not the best match for homes with cats or small pets due to his prey drive. Any dogs already in the home should meet Cuyo before adoption, with slow and careful introductions and a decompression period. You’ll want to be prepared for his strength and commitment to ongoing socialization. He’s up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped.
