💔 Nova’s Story — A Gentle Soul Who Just Needs a Safe Place to Land 💔 Nova is 5½ years old, and she has spent most of her life being exactly what a family hopes for in a dog—a loyal companion, a quiet presence, a good girl trying her very best. She lives for simple joys: leisurely walks, trips to the dog park, long naps stretched out on the couch. She’s well‑mannered in the house, listens well, and settles comfortably on her own when needed. Nova gets along with other pets and enjoys being part of the everyday rhythm of a home. When new people arrive, she may get a little excited—but that excitement comes from wanting to connect, not from aggression. Nova is gentle by nature. She’s calm, affectionate, and attentive. Like many dogs, she can momentarily lose focus when a squirrel or bird darts by—but just as quickly, she returns to being the steady, loving companion she’s always been. Nova doesn’t love being confined in a crate for long periods, but given space and trust, she does well on her own. She thrives most when she feels safe, respected, and understood. There have been a few moments in Nova’s past that weigh heavily on the people who love her. When she was very young, there were a couple of incidents involving children where she reacted and bit. It’s believed these moments happened when she may have been stepped on or handled roughly—situations where a sensitive dog might instinctively react out of fear or pain. There was no pattern of aggression, just confusion and self‑protection. More recently, there was an incident involving an adult who had been teasing her for some time. Overwhelmed and stressed, Nova reacted when her owner tried to intervene. It was not an act of malice—it was fear, overstimulation, and a dog who didn’t know how else to ask for the situation to stop. These moments do not define Nova. What defines her is her loyalty. Her calm presence. Her ability to coexist peacefully with other animals. Her love for routine, comfort, and closeness. Her desire to trust. Nova is not a “bad dog.” She is a dog who needs the right environment—one built on respect, patience, and clear boundaries. Ideally, a home without young children, where her signals are understood and honored. A home where she can finally exhale. Right now, Nova’s life is hanging in the balance. She doesn’t need to be punished for moments when she felt afraid. She needs a chance. She needs someone willing to see her heart instead of her mistakes. Someone who understands that dogs, like people, can react when pushed past their limits—and that those moments don’t erase years of goodness. Nova’s story doesn’t have to end in tragedy. She is still here. She still loves. She still hopes. And with the right person by her side, Nova can finally have the peaceful, safe life she has always deserved. Please don’t let fear write the ending of her story. Help us give Nova a chance to live. 🐾❤️ https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HOF/Dog
