About Francine

Francine is one of the lucky ones—and she knows it. She was found wandering the streets of Houston in January 2026, painfully thin at just 30 pounds, searching for food and survival. Despite everything she had been through, Francine never lost her gentle, loving spirit. Thanks to a dedicated foster in San Antonio, Francine has made an incredible transformation. She has doubled her weight, is now around 60 pounds, and continues to thrive. Sadly, her foster mom is now facing a terminal illness and needs to find Francine the safe, loving home she deserves. Francine is estimated to be about 2½ years old and appears to be a Lab/Hound/Great Dane mix with big paws and an even bigger heart. Francine is: • Spayed and fully vaccinated • Dog-friendly (does well living with other dogs) • Affectionate and people-focused • Learning leash skills • Crate and routine friendly She is a total lovebug—Francine wants nothing more than to be close to her person. She will happily lean into you, stand between your legs, and soak up affection. She gives full-body hugs (literally), which are adorable—but due to her size, she may do best in a home without small children while she continues learning her manners. Because of her past, Francine is still protective of her food around other dogs. She does great being fed separately and has shown no issues with people around her food. She has been around cats and shown minimal interest, but this is not fully guaranteed. While new environments can feel a little overwhelming at first, Francine adjusts quickly. During a recent outing, she started off unsure and looking for a place to hide—but within a short time, her confidence came through. She happily wagged her tail at children passing by, showed no concern for nearby activity, and settled in beautifully. It’s a great example of how she just needs a moment to feel safe—and then her true, social personality shines. Francine is still building confidence with new sounds and environments, and will thrive with a patient, loving family who can continue showing her that she is safe—and that she will never have to fight for survival again. 💛 If you’re looking for a deeply loyal, affectionate companion who will love you with her whole heart, Francine is ready to meet you. https://form.jotform.com/SaveTexasK9s/adoption-application-form
