Despite her tough start, Nellie is all heart: friendly, wiggly, affectionate, and so eager to bond with her people. She loves playing fetch, adores cuddles, enjoys car rides, walks nicely on leash, and is fully housebroken and crate trained. She’s wonderfully social with other dogs and really shines in a home with a playful canine companion. Nellie is sweet, gentle taking treats, respectful with food, and loves being someone’s shadow. She adjusts her play style for different dogs and tries hard to please. After two years in a shelter, she’s blossoming into a loving, joyful companion. Nellie can also live with cats as long as it is the right feline friend! She greets cats nicely on leash—or simply ignores them—but if they run, she may give chase (she is a dog, after all!). With proper introductions, she could likely learn to live with a confident, dog-savvy cat. Nellie is great with all people, but a bit of a “nervous Nellie” at first with unfamiliar people. With a little time and kindness, she will warm right up and win your heart. She would do best in a home with older kids who can be respectful of dogs and boundaries.
