About Braxton Arriving D

Braxton came into rescue with some old injuries that tell part of his story. His sacroiliac joint was broken and could not be repaired due to how long ago it happened, and his tail had to be removed because it was causing him pain. He was also very underweight. Despite all of that, he handled medical care, surgery, and recovery without complaint. Braxton is a quiet, gentle dog who tends to be timid. He likes having a cozy bed and a kennel where he can retreat if he feels overwhelmed. He is mostly potty trained and has a good appetite. He is not picky about food. He prefers to be close to his person and struggles when left alone. He will vocalize to let you know he is unhappy, so he would prefer a home where someone is around most of the time. He does not want to spend long stretches by himself. He enjoys simple things. He will settle in whatever room you are in and relax nearby. When you pick him up, he leans his head back for a kiss. He has also discovered the fun of stealing a sock and running off with it. Braxton can be a little quirky. He barks at his reflection in mirrors or glass doors when he notices it. He walks a bit differently because of his past injury, but it does not slow him down in his day to day life. He has learned to play with a small dog, but he is more focused on people than other dogs and would be just as happy as the only pet. Braxton is a sensitive dog who needs a calm, steady home and a person who understands how much he depends on them. Braxton is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/16/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
