First things first: Spanky is a girl. She’s around five months old and a lively Boxer/Jack Russell Terrier mix. She ended up in rescue after being left in a crate on the side of a highway in the Louisiana heat. When she arrived, poor Spanky was starving—down almost 40% of her normal body weight—but she’s bounced back quickly thanks to her big personality and eagerness to please. Spanky is sharp, quick to learn, and has already figured out her crate is a good space for her. House training is a work in progress, but she’s treat-motivated and will do just about anything for a cookie. She gets along with other dogs, is happy to hang out with kids, and even seems curious about horses. Chasing squirrels is a specialty, but she walks well on leash.
