Meet Chepo: The Sweetest Gentleman Looking for his Forever Home! 8yr old, 95lb Chepo was surrendered to the shelter in May of 2025 because his family had to move out of the country and wasn’t able to bring him. Volunteers at the shelter quickly found Chepo to be friendly and affectionate, and after just a few outings Chepo loved hanging out with his new human and dog friends. In shelter play groups he was described as gentle, dainty, social, enjoying mingling and chilling with other dogs. Our team at Dog Coalition fell in love with him and thanks to a dedicated foster, we were able to spring him out and into a foster home in June of 2025. Chepo has been in foster for over 6 months and we just can’t figure out why his forever home hasn’t been knocking down our door! In his foster home, Chepo is very sweet and affectionate and respectfully asks for pets. He is independent and will keep himself occupied with a chew toy, but prefers to stay close to people while doing so. Chepo is responsive to his name and comes when called, and will also move out of the way when asked. He is generally very attentive and has learned crate and leash training, even as an older fella. We get the sense that he used to live in a yard, so we’re very proud of this guy’s progress learning to be a wonderful inside dog as well! Chepo is fostered with other dogs and gets along easily with dogs with a variety of personalities and temperaments. He is balanced and fair, can be playful even with younger and rowdier dogs and will appropriately slow them down or ask for space when it’s getting too rambunctious. Most of the time though, he is happily co-mingling and chilling with everyone. He is also fostered in a home with cats and gets along very well with them! (see pics). We believe Chepo would be a great solo companion or fit in nicely to a home with other well-balanced dogs or cats. We always recommend slow introductions to new people, places, and animals. But Chepo is the sweetest and most affectionate guy, and quickly makes new friends. He has gone on many adventures and would like to spend time at the beach, on an easy hike, or just chilling at home with his favorite people.
