Weighing roughly 8lbs, Emma is the classic petite old lady Chihuahua—soft, mellow, and glued to you for cuddles. Her ideal day involves treats, sunbeams, and lots of downtime near her favorite person. Emma came from difficult circumstances but has made a strong recovery from a serious heart condition, thanks to a life-saving donor and expert care. Her heart is healthy now and Emma is ready to settle in for good. She enjoys short walks but prefers being indoors, curled up and comfortable. Emma fits well with small, mellow dogs and has lived peaceably with cats, though she’ll be happiest as your sole sidekick or sharing with quieter companions. Because of her size and gentle temperament, she’s best with adults and mature, respectful kids over 12. Emma is close to fully house trained—just allow a bit of patience while she adapts. She’s content in a crate or cuddled by your side at nighttime, and doesn’t mind a small home or apartment life. She has a tendency to alert when someone’s at the door—Chihuahua style. Emma does face ongoing health concerns, mainly dental disease that will need attention and luxating patellas in her knees, which don’t require treatment now.
