About Albert

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is a home of my own! I'm Albert, and I’m a 13 year old, 70 pound Yellow Labrador Retriever with a gentle heart and an old soul. I’ve been trying very hard to be a good boy this year. I’m still working on my house and crate skills, but I’m great on the leash, and I absolutely love being outside. Give me a yard, some sunshine on my face, and a ball to nudge around, and I’m in heaven. I’m a sweet, laid-back guy who loves snuggles, naps, and a slow, peaceful life. I nap a lot and will snooze pretty much anywhere—including tiny spots like closets. When I want cuddles, I’ll flop onto the couch and do my happy little wriggle until you notice me. I’m very good with the dogs in my foster home and with any foster pups who come and go. Out in public, I can be reactive to some unfamiliar dogs, and I’m not good with cats, but I am great with kids and enjoy their gentle company. I know several commands—Sit, Paw, Lay, and Come. At my age, you could guess that I do have special needs. I’m deaf, prone to ear infections, and I have a cyst on my neck that bleeds occasionally but doesn’t bother me. I take medication for pain, mobility, and my joints because, well, these old bones don’t move the way they used to. I don’t have a lot of mobility, so short walks, snuggles, and simple routines are perfect for me. What I dream of most is a slow-paced family or an older couple who will let me spend my golden years in comfort. A fenced yard would be wonderful so I can bask in the sun and feel the breeze without going too far. Car rides, yard time, soft beds, and warm hands—those are the things that make my tail thump. So Santa… if you can hear an old dog’s wish, all I want for Christmas is a forever home where I can spend the rest of my life loved and safe. My adoption fee is $75 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check. *Adopter is responsible for coming to get the dog and returning the dog if the adoption does not work out* Don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook!-www.facebook.com/rescueonespringfield *Remember, dogs are pack animals. Because of this, Rescue One does not adopt to outdoor-only homes. Pets are family and are not disposable. Please make sure that you are 100% committed to a pet before considering adding one to your home. We are a foster-based organization, and we need more fosters to help us save more animals!
