At approximately 4 years old, Ayla has spent nearly a quarter of her life in a shelter- but she’s ready to trade kennel life for a comfy couch she can call her forever home. Ayla has been in a foster home for about a month, and she has been an absolute dream. Ayla is house trained, leash trained, crates well, knows basic commands, and is perfectly content to nap the day away on any soft surface you offer her. While she may be a little large for the title, Ayla firmly believes she is a lap dog and would love nothing more than curling up beside her people after a long day. Ayla is blind and requires eye drops twice a day, but she makes this her easiest task- she happily sits, looks up, and patiently waits when you say the command “eyedrops for Ayla.” Her blindness doesn’t slow her down in the slightest. She confidently navigates stairs, quickly learns new environments, and mastered household routines within a day of arriving in her foster home, including politely signaling when it’s time to go outside. Ayla is the original House Hippo: a sturdy little gal with a heart of gold, a deep love of leisure, and an unparalleled commitment to rest and relaxation. We estimate she spends roughly 23 out of every 24 hours lounging. The remaining hour is reserved for light snacking, polite greetings (including her signature tippy-tap dance when you get home), and the occasional leisurely stroll- weather permitting, of course. Ayla adores people of all sizes and currently shares her foster home with a tiny human whom she loves to cuddle with at night. While she would prefer a cat-free home, she has successfully lived with three cats and two kittens in her foster home. She may attempt to chase them, but her frequent snoozing and inability to see them have made coexistence easy with supervision. Ayla is hoping to find a home where she can settle in, stretch out on the couch, and truly become part of the family. In return, she promises a lifetime of cuddles, kisses, and unwavering devotion.
