About Arya
Arya has the kind of gentle, loyal energy people hope to find in a dog. She’s seven years old, carries herself with grace, and weighs in at 68 lbs—a sturdy, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a soft, short coat in warm fawn. Arya leans toward mellow and affectionate, but she has a playful streak that comes alive for belly rubs, squeaky toys, and training sessions (as long as snacks are involved). She'll wiggle onto her back with her legs in the air, waiting for pets. Arya takes some time to adjust in a new place or with new people, yet once she settles, she pours on the affection. She bonds closely and is happiest simply hanging out next to her person. Arya thrives on routine and loves her walks—she’s excellent on leash and easy around other dogs, especially larger, calm companions. She’s smart, food-motivated, and picks up tricks fast. She’s house and crate trained, rides well in the car, and makes grooming a breeze. Arya takes a daily anti-inflammatory for mild arthritis, but it never stops her from enjoying her strolls or snuggling up for companionship. She did her time at the Carson Animal Shelter, narrowly escaping euthanasia, and since December has been blossoming in foster care. An adults-only home will suit her best, given her need for a little time to decompress when meeting new people. Arya’s ready to settle in for her next chapter—one she hopes will bring stability, love, and plenty of treats. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Arya would appreciate access to a secure yard or nearby outdoor spaces for her daily walks. While a large yard is ideal, regular walks and playtime are just as effective for her physical and mental well-being.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are generally gentle, but Arya needs an adults-only home due to her preference for a quieter environment and her need to warm up to new people.
