About Charlie
Charlie is a striking, playful one-year-old retriever mix who weighs in around 55 pounds. He landed at the shelter as a stray with another dog, but no one ever came forward for either of them. Charlie still has that bouncy, young energy and a dash of puppy goofiness. He keeps his kennel fairly tidy, is food-motivated, and relishes any backyard time where he can dash around and burn energy. He’s done well with other dogs, clearly appreciating having canine company. During a brief cat room introduction, Charlie was mostly focused on food smells, not the cats themselves. The shelter plans to re-test him with cats to get more clarity. Charlie would do well in a home that offers him steady meals, dedicated playtime, and a lot of daily attention—he could stand to gain a little weight. On exam, the vet found a small, fluid-filled cyst on his right hind thigh and a soft spot on the back of his neck, possibly from a past vaccination, but neither issue appears urgent. Charlie is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
