When asked to describe this sweet, older gent, Stryker's foster said, "Perfect!" We tend to agree. Stryker is a wonderful house dog and companion. According to his fosters, he is loving but not clingy, well-mannered, and has never had a bathroom accident in the house. Stryker likes to know that his people are there, but isn't underfoot when you're doing your own thing. When his fosters can work from home, he's a great buddy and has never once embarrassed them on a Zoom call! At this point in his life, Stryker is looking to be the only dog in his home. He feels pretty indifferent toward them and likes to be the center of his humans' attention. However, out and about, Stryker is happy to walk right on by neighborhood dogs and distractions. "He does beautifully on leash," according to his fosters. We aren't sure what Stryker's position is on cats, but our team will be happy to go over proper introductions between Stryker and any resident felines. Stryker's fosters have noticed he values a few important things above all. The first is riding in the car. This is one of Stryker's favorite activities, and he does wonderfully. He doesn't bark at passersby or dogs out the window; he sits in his seat and watches the world go by. He's just happy to be literally along for the ride. Stryker also LOVES toys, and his inner puppy really comes out when it's time to play fetch and tug. What Stryker doesn't love is being alone. While he is pretty independent in the home, he does like to know that his people are around. This makes him an excellent companion for work-from-home folks, families who often have at least one person home most of the time, or someone who spends a lot of time driving and can bring Stryker along. While he can do some alone time, it's definitely not his preference, and we think that, as an esteemed older gentleman, he deserves to have his preferences met as much as possible. If you feel like Stryker might be a good fit for your family, please email us at TRAINING@ARLGP.ORG to learn more about him and set up a meet-and-greet. **To help set him and his future family up for success, Stryker is being placed by our Training Team.
