Jeb is a medium-sized mixed breed with noticeable Border Collie traits, sporting a short black and white/cream coat. He is an adult neutered male currently living in Westfield, NY. Jeb is house trained and up to date on vaccinations, making him a practical choice for adopters seeking a dog that’s already comfortable with basic routines.

About Jeb

Jeb has been settling in at his foster home and continues to make slow but steady progress. He has grown comfortable with routine, sleeping in his foster's bedroom and often staying close to Percy, the golden retriever. Jeb seems to draw comfort from Percy—maybe from his calm presence, or maybe just because he enjoys canine company. He plays a subtle herding role, quietly keeping tabs on the humans just as a border collie would. Jeb is eating well, has figured out treat time, and does well with all dogs he meets. He prefers gentle handling and is still wary of new people and experiences, but there's never been a hint of aggression—just quiet timidity. Jeb is housebroken with only a couple of accidents over long nights, not surprising for a dog still getting used to indoor life. Jeb and his brother arrived from a very tough situation, completely unsocialized. Years later, they’re still learning that people can be safe. Jeb is making progress, though; he’s now willing to accept treats and share space, and takes cues from canine friends. He can be adopted alone or with his brother, but he will need a home with another confident, friendly dog and a secure fenced yard, as leash walks are still out of his comfort zone. Approved adopters can do a “Slumber Party” trial. Applicants must travel to Westfield, NY, to meet Jeb in person as he cannot be shipped or transported by the rescue. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Jeb

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Jeb, as a mixed breed with Border Collie heritage, tends to thrive in a calm, patient home where routines are clear. He’ll do best where he can slowly adjust to new things and be around both people and friendly dogs.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Jeb will need a fenced yard to feel safe, as he’s not yet comfortable with leash walks. A medium to large outdoor space gives him the freedom to move and relax, especially if he can share it with another dog.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Border Collie mixes like Jeb can be suitable for calm, older children who respect his space and understand his timid nature. A low-key environment without the unpredictability of young kids is ideal.
