About Hobbes

Hobbes is an orange and white cuddle enthusiast who believes life is best lived right next to his person, or preferably on top of them. Named after the beloved tiger from Calvin and Hobbes, he brings that same playful, larger-than-life energy into everything he does. He tends to assume everyone wants to be his friend, whether they agree or not, and fully commits to being part of every moment of your day. He is what we lovingly call a Velcro cat. Sleeping in becomes a thing of the past, because Hobbes will not let you sleep past the time he thinks you should be up. He will walk across you, lay on you, and make sure your day starts on his schedule. Bathroom trips are no longer solo adventures, and relaxing on the couch means you now have a very affectionate sidekick claiming your lap. He follows you from room to room and always wants to be involved. Hobbes is playful, curious, and always on the move. He loves treats, toys, and climbing as high as he can, so cat trees and secure shelves are a must. He is also a known door watcher and will try to dart out if given the opportunity, so a mindful home will help keep him safe. With slow introductions, Hobbes can live with other cats and dogs, though he may be pushy and very confident in how he interacts. It is important to know that if he decides he does not like another cat, he can be a flat-out bully toward them. With dogs, he is often affectionate on his own terms and may rub on them or seek attention when he chooses, which is not always appreciated by the dog. He can also be a bit much and test boundaries. He will do best with confident pets who can hold their own, or as a spoiled only pet where he can have all the attention to himself. Hobbes does best with older kids and teens who understand his personality. He is not a good fit for younger children, as he can grab on when he gets overly affectionate or excited. He also has a shorter tail than most cats, likely from a past injury. The tip shows some signs of old trauma that is in the late stages of healing, and it does not slow him down one bit. If you are ready for a bold, affectionate, always-in-your-business kind of cat who will keep you laughing and keep you company every step of the way, Hobbes is ready to take over your home and your heart. He is tested, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His estimated birth date is 3/1/2023 and his adoption fee is $140.
