About River
River is a medium-sized Pit Bull Terrier who’s been waiting the longest for a home. He landed at the shelter as a stray back in January, overlooked for months until an attentive foster brought him home. River balances bursts of energy with moments of pure relaxation—he’s happy to hike or explore, but just as content snuggling up on the couch for belly rubs. He’s learning basic commands and thrives with treats, quickly picking up new skills with steady support. River shows great social skills around other dogs and gets along well with kids. He walks calmly on leash, rarely barks, and eagerly joins car rides or trail outings. At home, he wants to be near his people and delights in tug-of-war with his favorite rope. While he’s still regrowing hair from a flea allergy spot, he’s looking handsome and feeling playful. River is the sort of dog who adapts to your pace—down for fun, happy to rest, always ready for attention. Ready to meet him? Click apply to start the adoption process.
