About Amos

Amos is a 7-year-old chocolate beagle mix who arrived with a large group of beagles from a hoarding situation in the summer of 2023. Early on, he struggled with socialization, but after much patience, Amos has finally come out of his shell. He has solid house manners as long as there is a dog door. Occasionally, Amos will try to assert himself by marking another male’s food bowl—it's an alpha thing—but he's not otherwise destructive. Anything food-related is fair game with him, very true to the beagle character. Amos loves to play with the other dogs and is a big fan of a good chase. Because he has an alpha personality, he would do best with a more submissive dog if he shares a home. He’s just now started to enjoy human touch and seeks out attention. He does well with children and would enjoy having kids to run around with in the yard. Amos hasn’t become a snuggler yet but is starting to ask for one-on-one attention, and it would be great for him to have a family of his own as he continues to build his confidence and trust.
