Well hello there friends, lovely to meet you! My name is Atlas and I have been a PAHS resident for nearly two years now. I was found in the middle of the night running by the railroad tracks with an embedded prong collar and feces smeared across my chest. As much as my intake condition saddened the shelter staff, they knew that my arrival was a good thing as it meant I had escaped my horrible past. I was covered in scars and open cuts, my black hair peppered with white stripes from previous injuries. It was obvious to the staff that I had endured a long and difficult life in the horrid world of dog fighting. This naturally meant that I had an extremely difficult time settling into a kennel full of other dogs. My kennel mom named me "Atlas" as she said I walked my journey bearing the weight of the world on my shoulders. Under the calm and loving leadership of the PAHS staff, I have blossomed into a very sweet and well behaved boy. As my health improved, my coat grew shinier and my overall attitude greatly improved. The staff say I really got my spunk back and learned how to enjoy the simple things in life as every dog should. I especially love long car rides and chasing my toys in the play yard. My friends here feel that I will likely be more comfortable with a mom but may be open to living with a gentle dad as well. Though I am not a suitable candidate for a family with young children or other animals I would make a wonderful companion to loving teens and adults.
