What is a DERP DERP? 3 guesses: 1) a South Park character; 2) a Gen Z slang term; 3) the name of a pup rescued from Puerto Rico by Gen Z NYU students who love watching South Park. ANSWER IS: All of them are close to the truth but the correct answer is (drumrollllll): THREE! That's right - a group of NYU students went to Puerto Rico during spring break to party, only to find a tiny pink wet puppy on the side of the road whom they named Derp Derp. Instead of partying, they spent most of their long weekend worrying and caring for the little guy! Thankfully, they reached out to us last minute and we were able to get him to a veterinarian and prevent him from being put back on the street! He's a lucky guy that the stars lined up! In such a short time, little Derp has come such a long way! He truly embodies his name in the cutest way! He really is SO derpy - so sweet, loving, silly and goofy! HE IS THE BEST, and so full of joy! As of April 24th, he is 15 lbs and 3 months old. We think he's a Lab mix. He really looks like a nearly purebred Lab. Expected weight is likely going to be 40 lbs based on current age and weight. Derp Derp is a pup you can't go wrong with. We wish we had so many detailed things to say but he actually is just a perfect, sweet and happy puppy! He absolutely LOVES to cuddle. He loves human touch! In almost every single picture of him, he is smiling! That is just his sunny personality! He is great with other dogs and kids and would be good with cats too with proper introductions (just like with any dog being introduced to a cat!). Derp Derp is currently being fostered with other dogs of varying ages and he is great. He is doing well with house training with his PR foster but please expect to continue training once you get him! Medically, Derp is ready to go! He had mange when he was rescued (very common - and that is why his skin was pink) but has healed from that and looks gorgeous. He has all age-appropriate vaccinations and tests. We think he'd be a great pup for the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT) given his one-removed NYC roots! ;) ***Derp Derp is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and will only fly to his forever home once adopted!
