About Andy
Andy is an 8-year-old male Poodle, small at about 12 pounds, with an apricot curly coat and a gentle, affectionate spirit. His rescue story is tough—he was so severely matted when found that the shelter had to sedate and shave off over a pound of neglected fur, but what came through was a quietly loving, dignified little dog. Andy is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He does best when someone is home most of the day, as he struggles with separation anxiety, which makes sense given his past neglect. Andy is a devoted companion who bonds deeply; his favorite spots are right by your side or nestled next to you on the couch. He is still learning about toys and walks, and sometimes new sights outdoors make him wary, but he’s getting braver with time. Andy gets along well with other calm dogs and seems to enjoy their company. He’s working on his potty training and is crate trained, though he doesn’t love being confined and will sometimes cry. With new people, Andy might cower at first, but warms up quickly with patience. He thrives in homes with a secure, tall fence and would love another calm dog friend—compatibility with children or cats is still unclear. Andy just wants a soft place to land and someone to love him fiercely back. He’s microchipped and on regular preventatives. Applicants must live within an hour of Toledo, OH.
