The Swifties were absolutely certain she was named after Taylor's latest masterpiece. The literature crowd immediately countered with Ophelia from Shakespeare's Hamlet. And then there were a few of us who thought maybe it was just a beautiful name for a beautiful dog. That debate didn't last long. The moment Ophelia arrived, it stopped mattering. Everyone agreed on the important thing -- we loved her immediately. Ophelia is a 6-year-old hound who came to us from an overcrowded shelter. She's a petite 33 pounds -- a pocket-sized hound with a surprisingly big presence. Not loud or overwhelming, just... there, in the best way. She's incredibly sweet. The kind of dog who hugs you gently, as if she already trusts you. She's affectionate, calm, and quietly hopeful. We don't know what her past looked like, but she's fully committed to a happy present and future. Opherlia loves people and other dogs. She's playful, with a soft, easygoing sense of humor that shows up in little moments -- a bounce, a curious look, a sudden burst of joy. Ophelia isn't trying to be the center of attention; she just has a way of becoming it.
