About Shirley
Shirley is a two-year-old, spayed female German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix with a striking black and brown coat. In her foster home, Shirley has grown increasingly comfortable over eight months, showing a gentle curiosity and enjoying sunbathing outside. Though she is quite shy with new people and needs time to open up, once settled, Shirley’s tail perks up and she bravely comes indoors for company. She walks nicely on leash, though loud cars can startle her, and keeps her composure around small animals with just a little encouragement. Shirley shows real interest in other dogs and would be happiest with a playful companion to help her confidence. Her foster brother is more of a sniffer than a playmate, so Shirley is still looking for her ideal four-legged friend. She’d do best in a home with older, respectful children. Patience is essential—Shirley needs an adopter who will go slow, continue working on her basic commands like “Come” and “Sit,” and let Shirley set the pace as she rebuilds her trust in humans. She is reliably house trained except for the rare long confinement and is comfortable during rides and vet visits. Despite her fears, Shirley has never shown aggression. She is ready for a quiet, thoughtful family to give her a chance to blossom. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
