About Norte

Norte—often called "Goose" by his foster—has a knack for making people smile. He’s shy at first, especially around new sounds and people, but curiosity wins over pretty fast, especially with women and kids. Men are fine too; he just takes a beat before warming up. Norte loves picking apart stuffed toys, crunching bones, and chasing after tennis balls as if it’s his personal mission. He’s got a real explorer’s nose and is happiest on walks, tail up, sniffing every interesting scent he finds. He knows his name, comes when called most of the time, and has basic commands like sit and wait down pretty well. Norte’s crate trained (but will try to charm you with energy at bedtime if he’s not tired). Other dogs bring out his playful side and he gets along easily with them, happily respecting signals and boundaries. He’s very interested in cats—sometimes to the point it’s too much, so a cat-free home or one with a truly dog-savvy cat is best. Prey animals are too tempting for this big guy and should be avoided. Norte doesn’t guard food or toys, and loves a good run or play session, but after burning off his puppy energy, he’ll curl up on the couch for a snuggle. At just over a year old, Norte is a large Rottweiler mix with a soft, gentle face and the kind of kind eyes that make you want to keep him safe. He’s still learning that the world isn’t so scary and just needs someone to show him patience and confidence. Underneath his hesitancy, you’ll find enormous potential, a playful attitude, and a loyal, affectionate companion. Start your journey together! Apply now.
