About Misty
Meet Misty, a lively four-year-old Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix in Amherst, MA. She’s a golden burst of affection in a 90-pound frame, blending playful antics with honest, heart-melting cuddles. Her golden brown coat with white accents stands out—but it’s her affectionate nature that you’ll remember. She’s the type to lean in and rest her head on your chest or bomb you with kisses at the end of a rough day. Misty runs on medium energy and lives for the companionship of people—especially children. She thrives in a home with love, predictability, and room to stretch those long legs. She’s obsessed with her squeaky octopus toy and embraces new routines with a goofy spirit. Misty is crate trained, house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She knows a good set of commands ("come," "sit," "lay," and "stay") but, true to her independent nature, sometimes needs a nudge to follow through. She manages well solo for short spells (a chew bone helps)—though paper shredding has become a hobby if boredom sets in. Doggie daycare has been a success for Misty, where she thrives in structured, supervised play. At home, however, she must be the only animal. Misty has severe resource guarding (especially around food) and hasn’t been able to live peacefully with other animals. She’s good with dogs in controlled environments but not in shared living or feeding spaces. She needs positive reinforcement and a steady, calm voice—she’s enthusiastic with greetings and loves to jump up, eager to say hello. Misty is looking for a spacious fenced yard and a patient, loving adopter who understands her quirks and will appreciate her loyalty. If you have room in your heart (and on your couch), Misty’s waiting. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
