About Boogie

Meet Boogie! This gentle, nearly nine-year-old, 80-pound Shepherd/Rottweiler mix resides in Redwood City, CA, and his story is truly remarkable. Boogie sports a sleek black coat and embodies a gentle heart. He is easygoing and affectionate, perfectly content curling up for a nap, lounging in the yard, or enjoying a sniff-filled walk or a drive. Anyone who meets him quickly notices his friendly nature and soft manner, and a little sweater just adds to his charm. He knows basic commands like Sit, Down, and Stay, thanks to his training from a board-and-train program. While he still barks at other dogs during walks, he is manageable. He hasn't lived with children, but interactions during walks suggest he would be fine. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs and could be matched with proper introductions. However, he shouldn’t be in a home with cats or small pets. Boogie is house-trained and can be left alone without issue. He settles down quickly and asks for little more than the occasional Greenie treat. He does have some skin allergies requiring medicated baths as part of his routine. His adoption comes with great support: his medical insurance is covered for the first year and he can receive training consultations if desired. We encourage a two-week foster-to-adopt trial which allows both you and Boogie to see if it’s the right fit without pressure to decide immediately. Rescued from Oakland Animal Services just before euthanasia, Boogie has thrived in a loving foster home. He would love to be adopted alongside his best friend, Baby, but they can also be placed separately. If you think Boogie could be the dog for you, or if you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
