About Papillon Dogs

Papillons are elegant, fine-boned toy dogs named for their butterfly-like ears (papillon means "butterfly" in French). Despite their dainty appearance, they are surprisingly athletic, intelligent, and spirited. They consistently rank among the top toy breeds in obedience and agility competitions.

Adopting a Papillon brings a bright, friendly companion who is far more athletic than their size suggests. They are great with families, adapt well to any living situation, and love learning new tricks. Their silky coat and graceful movement make them little showstoppers.

Huskies thrive in NYC winters. Their thick double coat is built for cold, and they will happily play in Central Park snow for hours. Road salt is the main concern since it irritates paws. Booties help but many Huskies resist them, so paw wax is a good alternative.

Spring

Mar – May

Spring triggers a massive coat blowout in Siberian Huskies. Expect tumbleweeds of fur for 2 to 3 weeks. Daily brushing with an undercoat rake is essential. The Prospect Park and Hudson River trails offer great exercise as weather warms.

Summer

68°F to 85°F

Jun – Aug

NYC summers are uncomfortable for Siberian Huskies. Above 70°F they start overheating, and NYC humidity makes it worse. Walk only at dawn or after dark, provide frozen treats, and never shave their coat since it actually insulates against heat too. Air conditioning is mandatory.
