Blaze
AvailableBlaze is a large, mixed breed male believed to have Black Mouth Cur and Labrador Retriever in his background, currently in Alexander, AR. He is about a year old, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Blaze is not yet house trained and exhibits the athletic build and presence you’d expect in a large breed. He has been socialized with people and other dogs, but he will need an active family ready to provide training and playtime.
About Blaze
Blaze survived against the odds—he was the only one from his litter to make it out of the shelter alive after animal control picked them up. Since then, he’s been living with a foster in Alexander, AR, learning the basics and craving more opportunities for growth. Blaze spent his puppy days socializing with neighborhood teens, mastering fetch and the 'sit' command, and getting along with a nearby Yorkshire terrier. He’s a strong, athletic dog who understands leash and harness basics, but still pulls—he just hasn’t had the chance to really work on those skills yet. Blaze is motivated by both affection and play, happiest chasing balls and critters in a fenced yard or soaking up attention from anyone willing to give it. His energy is moderate, and he lights up when occupied mentally and physically. He’d do best with an active adopter who can commit to daily exercise, keep his mind engaged, and gently reinforce good manners. He’s a real sweetheart at heart, eager to snuggle, but has enough size and power that a home with older kids would suit him better than one with toddlers. Blaze is about a year old, weighs 62 lbs, neutered, and current on vaccinations. He’s not house trained yet and will need some guidance there. No one really knows his breed, but he’s likely some mix of Black Mouth Cur and Lab. Local adoption is available in Alexander, AR, and he can travel north with pickup arranged in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Blaze
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Blaze, with his Black Mouth Cur and Labrador Retriever mix, would thrive in a home with space to play and an active family who can give him regular exercise and attention. He is best suited for a house with a fenced yard rather than a small apartment.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Blaze would benefit from a securely fenced backyard where he can play and explore daily. His mix typically enjoys plenty of room to run, so a larger outdoor space is ideal.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Blaze’s background and temperament suggest he can do well with older, sturdier children who can handle his size and energy. Like most large, smart, playful dogs, he might unintentionally knock over younger kids.
