About Duke

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MEET DUKE (SC): THE BEARDED HEARTTHROB YOUR HOME HAS BEEN MISSING Duke is a twoyearold (as of April 2026) German Wirehaired Pointer who looks like he walked straight off the cover of Rugged Outdoorsman Monthly but behaves like a goldenhearted goofball who just wants to love everyone he meets. This scruffy gentleman was surrendered when his owner moved and chose to leave him behind — a decision Duke has handled with more grace than any of us would have. Things took a scary turn when the shelter planned to euthanize him for space, which is wild because Duke is the kind of dog who expands hearts, not takes up room. Duke is a fulltime love machine. He adores people, thinks kids are tiny best friends, greets dogs like longlost cousins, and even loves cats, which officially makes him the Switzerland of household harmony. His beard gives him the air of a distinguished professor, but his goofy trot and soft heart reveal the truth: he’s a lovable dork who wants nothing more than to be your loyal sidekick. He’s sweet, he’s social, he’s loyal, and he’s ready to be the emotional support comedian your home didn’t know it needed. Duke is the dog who will make your neighbors jealous, your friends obsessed, and your heart permanently full. If you’re ready to give this bearded wonder the forever home he should’ve had all along, apply to adopt Duke (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Duke's adoption fee is $600.Please be sure to reference this pet's name as Duke (SC) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.
