About Hickory

Meet Hickory, a 1½-year-old Australian Shepherd who landed in rescue after being found as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. Hickory’s a striking red and white Aussie with a lively, loving presence. She came in a bit underweight, so her new family will need to keep helping her fill out and thrive. If you’re after a companion who’ll stick to you like glue, Hickory fits the bill—where you go, she goes. She’s deeply affectionate, snuggly, and will curl up on or beside you whenever she can. Hickory does best with someone home often to keep her company. Her energy sits between medium and high. She loves running and chasing a ball outdoors, so an active adopter with a fenced yard and a taste for outdoor adventures will suit her best. Hickory is housebroken, walks nicely on leash without pulling, and is very smart—quick to respond to cues and eager for treats. She’s not fully crate trained but can be managed with a mix of freedom and continued training. Hickory can get along with other dogs but shows dominant tendencies and will resource guard her person. She needs a confident owner and works best as the only dog, but might do fine with a calm, confident male after introductions. No apartments or busy city life for this girl—she needs a stand-alone home with a secure yard. Hickory is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. If you want a loyal best friend who’ll be your partner in every adventure, Hickory’s your girl. Lets make it official, apply to adopt!
