Available Heartworm dogs (Can be adopted if adopter agrees to continue treatment) This animal is heartworm positive . Heartworm disease is spread via a mosquito bite between animals, BUT animals on heartworm prevention are not contagious. Heartworm positive dogs may be adopted if the adopter is willing to continue treatment through their own veterinarian. Or the animal can be fostered through us until they have finished the full heartworm treatment and have been cleared by our veterinarian for adoption. This animal has started the pre-treatment for heartworm disease For foster program eligibility: you must live within 35 miles direct route from our facility, have a valid form of identification and proof of rabies vaccination for other dog, cats or ferrets of household.
