About Layla

Meet Layla – The Curly Comeback Queen With a Side-Eye Worth Respecting 💁‍♀️🐾 Nickname: The Blenheim Babe (in progress… stay tuned for the glow-up) Breed: Poodle / Cavalier Mix Age: 7 years Weight: 32 lbs (on a wellness journey to her ideal ~25 lbs!) Currently Residing: Waukesha, WI Layla’s Story Layla is a puppy mill survivor who is just beginning to experience what real life—and real love—feels like. She was released due to her age and weight, but what she gained in freedom is already transforming her. Now in foster care, Layla is discovering soft beds, kind hands, and the simple joy of being someone’s dog. Every day, she’s growing more confident, more playful, and more herself. Personality & Fun Facts Activity Level: Moderate — she’s building stamina and loving her daily walks Fun Fact: Layla has perfected the side-eye. If she’s not feeling something, she’ll let you know… politely, but with flair. Friendly With: Men, women, kids, cats, and dogs of all sizes — she’s living with a whole pack and handling it like a pro Dog Social Style: Easygoing and adaptable — she respects the seniors and is starting to play with the younger crew Sleep Style: Bedroom companion and expert couch snuggler; would absolutely accept a promotion to “bed dog” Bark-o-Meter: 5/10 — she’ll alert you to visitors and may vocalize when she can’t see her people (improving daily!) Shedding Meter: Low — curls for days, minimal mess Layla’s Preferences Meals: Small Batch, high-protein goodness fueling her glow-up Favorite Snack: TBD… but affection and belly rubs are currently winning Fashion: Pacific Island casual — breezy, effortless, and ready for sunshine Signature Style: A soft, curly coat growing into a stunning Blenheim pattern (right now it’s a “before” picture with big “after” potential) Favorite Season: Summer — sunshine, warm walks, and prime sunbathing conditions Walk-Out Song: “Confident” by Demi Lovato 🎵 — because Layla is stepping into her power, one paw at a time Special Notes Medical: No known medical issues and up to date on vetting Weight Goal: Layla is currently slimming down and already showing improved movement and energy. She’ll need a family committed to continuing her healthy routine with walks and proper nutrition. Car Rides: She may drool or get a bit carsick right now (likely tied to nerves and weight), but this may improve with time Likes & Dislikes Loves: Attention, ear scratches, belly rubs, being near her people, and discovering her playful side Hobby: Following her humans around like a fluffy little shadow Not a Fan Of: Being left out of the action — she prefers to keep her people within sight Training & Behavior Layla is housebroken on a routine and picks things up quickly—she’s observant and eager to learn. Leash training is still a work in progress, but she’s getting there. She’s not a fan of crates (understandably), but she does beautifully with free roam in the home. She may whine or bark when she can’t see her humans, but this is already improving as she settles in and learns her new environment is safe. Why Layla is Special Layla is a quiet transformation in motion. She’s gone from surviving to starting to shine—and it’s honestly kind of magical to watch. Beneath those soft curls and soulful eyes is a dog who just needed a chance to feel safe, loved, and understood. She’s affectionate, gentle, a little curious, a little cautious, and increasingly playful as she grows more comfortable in her own skin (and a slightly smaller waistline). And that hair? Once it grows in fully, she’s going to be absolutely stunning—but the real beauty is in how she looks at you when she trusts you. Layla doesn’t need perfection—she needs patience, kindness, and a family who will cheer her on as she becomes the dog she was always meant to be. If you’ve got room in your heart for a comeback story… Layla’s ready for her next chapter. 💛🐾
