Say hello to the world's most aptly named dog, Sugar! It will take some time, patience, and a calm presence to earn her trust, but you will soon realize you succeeded when you suddenly realize you have a 50 lbs lap dog on your hands. In her previous home, she spent her time as an outdoor dog in a fenced in yard, and would come into the house at night to sleep. She spent her time around her previous owner's grandkids and another dog, and got along very well with all of them. One of her favorite things to do is to have something to chew on, and she likes to playfully chew whatever she finds, so it's best to have a variety of toys for her with different textures and sizes on hand. Sugar is quite skittish and nervous by nature, especially around strangers, so anyone who meets her for the first time should be prepared to take it easy and give her time to go up, check them out, and let her make the calls for pets and belly rubs. We encourage everyone - including dogs - who live in your house come to our shelter to do a meet-and-greet if you're interested in adopting our dogs, Sugar included! You won't regret getting to earn the trust and affection of this truly excellent sweetheart.
