AvailableDuke is a 2-year-and-11-month-old neutered male American Bulldog/mixed breed in Melbourne, KY. His large frame is complemented by a white, cream, and gray coat. Duke is house trained, up to date on vaccinations, and responds well to structure and training.
About Duke
Duke stands out as a focused, hardworking American Bulldog mix who’s been dedicated to improving himself every step of the way. Meeting with him three times a week, handlers have found he thrives under structure and benefits from clear boundaries—an environment best suited for someone familiar with power breeds or dog training. Duke is sharp with his basic commands, responding well even at moderate distances and amid distractions. Out and about, he keeps to himself unless given the go-ahead and demonstrates solid social skills during play. Leash work comes naturally to him, and he calmly walks beside both people and dogs, never crowding for attention or needing to greet every passerby. E-collar trained but usually responsive to just voice, Duke sticks near his person when off-leash and always recalls, even if at a leisurely pace. Crate training is ongoing, though his handlers haven't fully assessed his comfort when confined for longer periods. Despite his big, sweet side, Duke does need slow, structured introductions to new people—he’s still working on his confidence with strangers, but as soon as he warms up, he reveals a loving, affectionate personality. His ideal adopter will have experience with strong, confident breeds and be ready to provide guidance as he continues to build trust in himself and those around him.
