Shrek
AvailableShrek is a medium-sized, golden mixed-breed Labrador Retriever with a short coat, currently in Tupper Lake, NY. As an adult neutered male, he’s received all his vaccinations. He is not yet house trained, as he’s lived his life outdoors. Shrek’s strength lies in his affectionate nature and adaptability after his time on the streets.
About Shrek
Shrek was abandoned at a train station in Mexico alongside his companion Fiona, and survived on handouts, hunting, and sheer resourcefulness. After months living outdoors, he’s now been neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and tested for tick-borne illnesses. What stands out is how affectionate and loving he remains—he rushes to greet people with cuddles and kisses before he eats, no matter how hungry he feels. Shrek has never slept indoors; his nights are spent under trees or cars, or on the sidewalk when the weather allows. He needs a home with a large yard or a farm, as he’s unaccustomed to indoor living. Shrek must be adopted together with Fiona, since they’re deeply bonded; both are still waiting in Mexico for a family willing to bring them home. Adopters must reside in upstate New York (Lake Placid area) or northern Vermont, and meet age and residency requirements as outlined by the rescue. After your application is approved, transport to New York is arranged—this may require patience due to timing and travel restrictions. You’ll be able to meet Shrek and Fiona in person before making the final adoption decision. Give these street-smart, loving dogs the chance they deserve. This could be the start of something paw-some.
