Meet Layla How can you not fall in love with Layla, just look at that happy face with a big smile to melt your heart. This young intelligent lady is ready to warm your heart and be your forever gal. She is known to love squeaky toys, fetch, go for walks, wrestling and tug of war. And after her play time she will cuddle and love lap time as well. Layla is your all around eager to please kind of gal. Layla, is good with other dogs, known to be good with indoor cats. Likely to chase a cat outdoors. Being that Layla loves her walks she is still in the learning process of her leash skills. Layla is a happy silly girl, good with everyone; bounces around from friend to friend (not hyper, just bouncy). Great with everyone she meets. Wouldn't you love to make Layla part of your happy go lucky family. Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications. Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
