We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Hank/Teddy Bear, 7 months old (DOB 9/30/2025), neutered male, Poodle mix, currently 22 pounds. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport to a city in various States. Hank has several names as you can see. He was purchased as a puppy and they named him Teddy Bear. We think he's more of a Hank so hence the name change. His original owners decided they did not have time or energy for a puppy, so he ended up with our rescue. Unlike most of our dogs, we do have an exact date of birth. He has done really wonderful in foster care and is ALL puppy! Please note he is not full grown and we do not know what he is a blend of. This seven-month-old sweetheart is the total package—gentle, playful, and full of personality! He might be a little reserved when you first meet him, but give him a minute (and maybe a stick), and you’ll see him light up. Once he’s comfortable, Hank is all about play and then cuddling. Hank is doing well with his crate. he’ll go in and settle down, especially once he gets comfortable, and he sleeps quietly through the night. He’s been great with a crate-and-rotate setup and handles downtime nicely for a 7 month old pup! . He’s also dog-friendly and has shown ok social skills with dogs of all sizes and personalities. From romping around with a 20-pound poodle mix to hanging with a 90-pound husky, lounging with an 88-pound pit mix, and respectfully coexisting with a more independent shepherd. Hank takes corrections pretty well- maybe a little confused as to why he could not stand on the other dogs back but moved on and went back to hanging out. He’s still figuring a few things out and is very curious about the world. He is mostly potty trained, but we found when a covering foster home had him there were accidents in the transition. We hope anyone considering adopting this guy, understands he is a puppy with a lot to learn. He will bark at strange things (cars passing by the house) so we would not characterize him as "quiet." He has been around children. We do not know how he does with cats. He is a little jumpy when walking on leash (think very playful). One of the biggest areas of focus at this age is socialization. Safe, positive exposure to new people, sounds, environments, and other dogs helps shape a stable, confident adult dog. We love seeing our puppies grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication cues, and boundaries in ways humans simply can’t replicate. For that reason, we prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide this puppy. That said, we understand that not every home has another dog. If you do not currently have a dog, we will want to know your specific plan for socialization once your puppy is old enough and fully vaccinated. This might include structured puppy classes, regular playdates with trusted dogs, supervised daycare, or other intentional, safe opportunities for positive canine interaction. A proactive approach is essential. Because this is such an important stage of development, we also do not adopt puppies of this age into homes where someone is away for more than four hours at a time during the day. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, structured training sessions, enrichment, and human interaction to build healthy habits and prevent anxiety or behavioral challenges. This early investment sets them up for lifelong success. Raising a puppy takes time, flexibility, and dedication — but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you, looks to you for guidance, and grows into a confident, well-balanced dog. If you’re ready for the work, the payoff is immeasurable. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
