AvailableAbout Jack Frost
Jack Frost, known as Jack to his friends, is a 20-lb, small-breed mix with a scruffy medium-length white and cream coat. He started out timid and overwhelmed, nearly overlooked due to his shyness. Now, thanks to a patient foster, a pack of gentle canine companions, and plenty of time to decompress, Jack has begun to come out of his shell. Patience has been key—Jack will accept treats from strangers and, given a few hours, will seek out affection, showing a sweet and snuggly side with people he trusts. He really comes to life with other dogs, showing a playful and silly streak. Chasing, wrestling, and long walks are some of his favorite things. Jack is potty trained, sleeps soundly in his dog bed close to his humans, and enjoys hanging out quietly while his foster mom works from home. He rides well in the car and enjoys exploring new places, although he can be enthusiastic on the leash and will need some continued training in that area. Jack is happiest as a full-time companion and finds being left alone tough. This little dog shows some resource guarding around his favorite person and has a mix of fear-based behaviors, so an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teens would be most comfortable for him. He could be fine with a confident cat, given slow, supervised introductions. Jack prefers a patient and experienced adopter familiar with nurturing shy dogs; structure and gentle, positive reinforcement training will help him keep growing in confidence. He’s highly food-motivated and already knows his name and basic commands like "sit." Adopters must be willing to tailor a transition plan that keeps Jack moving forward—he needs ongoing stimulation, socialization, and consistency. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
