What a sweetie! Franky was surrendered to rescue due to no fault of his own. His family experienced circumstances where they couldn’t care for him any longer. He is doing very well with the male and female doxies in his foster home. Franky is a little curious about the cats in the home but does listen when told to “leave it” so, the kitties are safe! Being all dachshund, Franky will bark at strangers until he knows that they are OK and are going to give him all the attention. He has figured out the doggie door and will go out to potty. Franky loves being outside exploring all the glorious smells so a fenced yard is a must. He enjoys his walks and does well on a leash. We have started walking with two big dogs in the neighborhood and he has no problem with them. Franky is crate trained, loves his doggie beds, and chills on the couch with you at every opportunity. He currently sleeps in his crate, but would love to be in the big bed with his people. Our must-haves for sweet Franky include: • A fenced yard • Another small dog to show him the ropes • Someone who can be home some with him or work from home • No apartments, or high-rises he likes to bark ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
