About Monte
Monte arrived at the shelter facing some serious skin problems, but he hasn’t let that dim his spirit. He’s a sweet, goofy three-year-old with a huge heart and a love for everyone he meets. Already fully house-trained and crate-trained (though the crate isn’t his favorite place), Monte is calm and quiet once settled. On leash, he’s a pleasant companion and takes car rides like a pro. Monte adores meeting other dogs, sometimes with a bit too much excitement, but with patient introductions and some gentle coaching, his friendly, mellow side comes out. He truly leads with love, sometimes forgetting that not everyone loves quite as fiercely as he does—one of many reasons he’s a joy to know. Monte has atopic dermatitis, an environmental allergy that causes itchy skin and eye irritation, and it’ll need straightforward ongoing care: daily medication, medicated baths, and eye ointment. He handles his treatments with patience and a surprisingly easygoing attitude. Health challenges aside, Monte is resilient and happy. He’s always ready for a walk, a hike, or a couch cuddle session. Quiet around the house and polite on walks, he rarely barks and typically passes people and dogs with ease. Monte’s mix of playfulness and calm makes him the kind of dog who fits into both lazy afternoons and busy mornings. He’s looking for a family willing to continue his easy routine and ready to soak up the endless love he has to give. Your new best friend is just one click away.
