About Athena

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Athena's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Have you ever met a goddess? Well, get ready to! Introducing Athena, a 3-year-old Bulldog/Boxer mix, weighing 50 pounds (as of 2/27/26). This sweet girl was surrendered when her owner in Tennessee was arrested for cat hoarding. Athena is more than happy to get out of that situation and hopes to find a home where she'll be loved and taken care of (and so will the cats in your life, too). One of the best things about Athena is that she has powers. Yes, powers! She's a goddess after all! If you ever need advice on which car to get or whether or not to join your neighborhood's HOA, Athena will use her goddess powers of wisdom to show you the way. She's a friendly girl with Boxer energy who'll always use her powers for good. She's also a jumper because she just gets so excited to help silly humans figure out their lives. Like most goddesses, this girl gets along with other dogs, but she prefers to be the main girl in your home. She also gets along with cats and while she hasn't had experience with kids yet, she looks forward to teaching them crafts like weaving and pottery because she happens to be great at that too. What can't this girl do? She's leash trained, crate trained and is house trained with a doggy door (so please have patience as she adjusts to your home). Athena also knows how to "sit" and looks forward to learning more commands! She's a wonderful girl who would thrive in an active home. Adopt Athena today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Athena, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] ** PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
