About Maverick

Maverick is a striking 5-year-old German Shepherd, Great Dane, and Mastiff mix with a zest for life and a truly loyal spirit. Weighing just over 100 lbs and sporting a brindle coat, he’s designed for someone who wants a partner for outdoor adventures. Maverick is housebroken, crate trained, and honestly too smart for his own good—he soaks up new commands and thrives with positive, food-motivated training sessions. He will absolutely keep pace with hikers or joggers and enjoys learning new tricks to keep his mind working. Socially, Maverick gets along with other dogs when meeting on neutral ground, but he doesn’t have much play etiquette and should never go off-leash with other dogs. In his foster home, he coexists with an older female dog and two cats, but he would prefer being an only pet in a quieter, adult-only home. Kids and chickens are out, but quiet adults—especially those home often—are ideal for him. Unexpected visitors stress Maverick, so a home without lots of comings and goings fits him best. He loves routine, dependable humans, and daily cuddles (expect to share your couch). A fenced yard is a must for zooms, and if you’ve got a pond, he’ll be in heaven. Maverick is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, negative for heartworms/parasites, and has even had a gastropexy. His adoption fee is covered for the right match. Questions about Maverick

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

A mix like Maverick—German Shepherd, Great Dane, and Mastiff—does best in homes with space, structure, and predictability. He’ll thrive in an adult-only household that values routine and safe, fenced outdoor areas.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Given Maverick’s size and energy, he needs a securely fenced yard where he can run and play daily. Apartment living with no yard would not be ideal for a dog of his mix and stature.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

This blend, especially with Maverick’s personality, is better suited for adult-only homes. He prefers calm environments and can be stressed by the unpredictability and energy of children.
