About Zion

Meet Zion. He is a 5 year old mini Australian Shepherd and Poodle mix, who is looking for a new home because the family has young children and they make him very nervous. Zion is incredibly intelligent, obedient, crate trained, and very loyal. He thrives on structure and routine and does best in a calm, predictable environment. He is also considered hypoallergenic, which may be helpful for some adopters. Zion would do best in an adult-only home or with older children as babies, children and older men make him nervous. He should be the only pet in the household, as he does not do well with other dogs or cats. He would thrive with an experienced dog owner(s) who understands anxiety in dogs and can continue to build his confidence. Zion’s likes include being outside, car rides, food, spending time with his people, structure, and chew toys. His dislikes include young children, older men, and other animals (dogs and cats). His energy level is relatively mild—he enjoys running around day to day but also spends a good amount of time lounging and sleeping. His typical daily schedule consists of waking up around 7–8 AM from his crate, going outside to go potty (he is fully house trained) approximately 4–5 times per day, eating one meal of dry kibble around dinner time, occasional walks at the park, and going to bed in his crate around 9–10 PM. Please email us at Almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com if Zion sounds like the right dog for your family, (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line.
