Jack Scruffles is a 2-year-old terrier mix, weighing just 7 lbs. With his scruffy coat and expressive eyes, Jack is as charming as they come. He came from a puppy mill environment where he had little to no human interaction, and in a very short time, he has made an extraordinary transformation into a loving, engaged companion. When Jack Scruffles first arrived, he was extremely fearful—avoiding touch, unsure of his surroundings, and unfamiliar with everyday experiences like walking on a leash, climbing stairs, or exploring outdoors. Within days, everything changed. He now walks confidently on a leash, navigates stairs with ease, and explores his environment with curiosity and enthusiasm. He actively seeks out his people, happily sits on laps, and joins his foster family on outdoor adventures, including camping trips and relaxing by the fire. He loves hikes and even goes into water! Jack is gentle, affectionate, and truly good-natured. Even at his most fearful, he never showed any signs of aggression. He gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and enjoys being part of a pack. He is friendly with people and continues to build confidence with every new experience. He is making excellent progress with house training and responds very well to routine. He does not like being crated and prefers to stay close to his people, following them around the home. He is vocal when left alone right now, as he is adjusting to a new and secure life, and he is already showing strong attachment and trust. Jack Scruffles is a smart, loving dog who has already proven how quickly he learns and adapts. He will thrive in a home where someone is present often and ready to continue giving him the structure and reassurance he has responded to so well.
