About Zach

🐶 Basics Dog’s Name (include nicknames – we know you have them!): Zach - good boy! Age / Size: 2Y 13lbs Rescued in Texas 💙 Foster Note What do you love most about them? How naturally comforting he is to have around. He has a soft, sweet presence and quickly makes himself part of the home. Why will they make a great companion? He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near his person. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch or moving around the house, he’s happy simply being your little sidekick. Do they have any funny quirks? He takes his naps very seriously, loves upgrading to the coziest blanket in the room, and has surprisingly strong opinions about where the best lounging spot is. Anything else an adopter should know? He has only been in foster care for a short time, but he has already shown himself to be sweet, affectionate, and eager to settle into home life. As he continues to adjust and gain confidence, his personality will keep blossoming. 💛 Personality Snapshot Describe in 3–5 words: Sweet, cuddly, gentle, sensitive, affectionate Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Low to Moderate (currently low while decompressing, likely moderate once settled) More people‑oriented or independent? Very people-oriented. Likes staying close to his person and seeks comfort/connection. How do they handle new situations? Initially cautious and a bit shy/unsure, especially in unfamiliar environments. Settles with reassurance, quiet space, and time, then becomes relaxed and affectionate. 🐕 Social & Home Life How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Very sweet and affectionate with adults. Initially a little shy/cautious in new situations, but warms up quickly once he feels safe. Enjoys being close to his person and seeks companionship. How are they with other dogs? Not fully assessed yet, but he appears gentle and non-reactive. Slow, proper introductions recommended. Cats or other animals (if known)? Has been calm and respectful around a resident cat. No chasing or fixation observed. Continued slow introductions recommended. Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Still being assessed in foster care. He enjoys being near his person and may follow them around while settling in. Based on his gentle nature, he would likely do best with a calm, predictable environment and slow introductions to new people. 🎓 Training & Manners Potty trained? Currently adjusting to a new environment and routine. He appears to be learning quickly but may need patience, consistency, and regular potty breaks as he settles into his foster home. Crate trained? Still being assessed. He has access to a crate, though he has been very relaxed settling into his bed and resting calmly in the home. Leash skills: Walks well on leash and is easy to handle. Commands known (if any): Knows basic cues such as sit, stay, and no. Responds happily to praise, especially “good boy” with lots of tail wags. 🌞 Daily Life Typical day with you: Right now he is settling into foster life and adjusting beautifully. He quickly learned where his bed and food station are, enjoys relaxing nearby, watching TV, taking long naps, and going out for regular potty breaks. We’ve been keeping things calm and low-key while he decompresses. Exercise needs: Low to moderate. Right now he seems content with short walks, potty breaks, and a little playtime. Favorite activities or toys: Loves plush toys, cozy blankets, lounging close by, and apparently enjoys watching The Lion King with you. 🏡 Ideal Home Only dog / With dog / Either: Either. He appears gentle and adaptable, and may do well as either a solo dog receiving lots of attention or in a home with another calm, respectful pet with proper introductions. Good fit for apartment living? Yes. He is small, low-key indoors, enjoys relaxing, and has adjusted well to apartment life so far. Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Calm to moderate. He seems happiest in a relaxed home with a steady routine, affection, and regular short walks/playtime. What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone patient, affectionate, and looking for a sweet companion dog. A person or family who enjoys a cozy home life, can give him reassurance while he builds confidence, and wants a loyal little buddy to relax and bond with. **Zach previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before he left Texas** INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
