AvailableAbout Cartier
● Name: Cartier, Cardi B ● Age / Size: ~1 years old, 40-50 lbs, lean ● Rescued in Texas 💙 Foster Note What I love most about Cartier is his joy and energy for life. He is very high energy as expected as he is a puppy, but is highly adaptable and matches your energy levels. He is the perfect partner for long walks but also does well on rainy days when you need to stay at home. He really surprised me with how calm and gentle he is when at home - he is very cuddly, immediately cozying up to you on the sofa and asking for belly rubs. At the same time, he is very content playing by himself on his bed with his toys. He loves anything he can really chew on - rubber especially. He is very gentle with furniture and knows boundaries you set, if certain areas are off limits. Overall I feel so inspired by Cartier. He was my first foster after losing my senior golden retriever a few months ago, and I was nervous about caring for such a young dog and an energetic breed. He surprised me with how he seemingly instantly adapted to his new NYC lifestyle, and truly how joyful and carefree he is despite the dramatic changes he has faced so early in his life. Cartier inspires me to be more resilient and anyone would be lucky to have him as an addition in their family. He is incredibly gentle and sweet at home - he seems to have a sixth sense ability to match the energy of whoever he is interacting with. For example, he plays pretty rough with other big dogs at the dog run, but then is so incredible, gentle, deferential and sweet at home with me. I was so surprised when he immediately leapt onto the couch with me and asked me for belly rubs. He seems very smart and trainable - he is already familiar with “sit” and I am training him to sit and wait for food, and sit and wait to be leashed and have his paws cleaned when he comes home. He can be mouthy when he plays but again he is very gentle and knows his limits (and responds well to No if you feel he pushed past your limits). He's just a very good boy. 💛 Personality Snapshot ● Describe in 3–5 words: Energetic but gentle, sweet and eager to please ● Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): High but knows when to pull back (responds very well to when you change your tone to indicate “no”) ● More people‑oriented or independent? Independent when on walks but cuddly at home ● How do they handle new situations? Extremely well - nothing seems to stress him out. Within the same day of arrival, he has adapted to his new living environment, the city, me (the foster), and other dogs with such familiarity. 🐕 Social & Home Life ● How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Extremely comfortable with adults / new people - has not interacted with kids yet (note: he was fostered with kids in Texas and adores them!) ● How are they with other dogs? Extremely comfortable. Played very well with all dogs at a new dog run. ● Cats or other animals (if known)? Not known ● Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Left alone - just sleeps. When guests visit, excited 🎓 Training & Manners ● Potty trained? Yes ● Crate trained? Not sure ● Leash skills: Some pulling but eases up significantly during the walk. As he gets tired the walk is very comfortable ● Commands known (if any): Getting familiar with sit, definitely knows “no” 🌞 Daily Life ● Typical day with you: Long walk in the morning, short walk afternoon, long walk evening ● Exercise needs: Long walks, off-leash time ● Favorite activities or toys: Anything chewable. He likes rubber-type toys vs. fluffy but nothing he “dislikes” 🏡 Ideal Home ● Only dog / With dog / Either: Both works! ● Good fit for apartment living? Yes ● Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Active ● What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone that enjoys long walks outdoors and cuddling with Cartier on the couch INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
