About Kenji
Kenji is a 7-year-old, roughly 50-pound Shepherd/Retriever mix with a strong loyalty streak and the presence of a quiet bodyguard. He isn't interested in the spotlight or chaos, preferring to observe and pick his favorite people before letting them in on his softer side. Once you're on Kenji’s list, consider yourself chosen—he’ll keep tabs on you, share your couch, and quietly make sure life stays on track. Since settling into his foster home, Kenji has shown a more affectionate, calm, and subtly playful personality. He thrives in peaceful, routine-driven environments with low foot traffic, where introductions are respectful rather than surprising. He tends to bond at his own pace, especially with men, but his loyalty, gentleness, and dedication become obvious once trust is built. Kenji is house trained and an excellent leash companion. He gets along with cats and polite, calm female dogs, but isn't a fan of rowdy housemates. When the mood strikes, especially in the yard with a ball, his playful side comes out. Most of his day, though, is spent quietly nearby, offering low-key companionship and an occasional spot of gentle supervision. Kenji’s looking for a calm, patient adopter who values steady companionship over constant action. With time and presence, he’ll become that “once-in-a-lifetime” dog—faithful, settled, and all-in.
